March 5, 2009

Former Chief Development Officer of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas brings significant fundraising experience to YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas

The YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas (www.ywcadallas.org) today announced that Jennifer Ware has been named chief executive officer. Ware, who previously served as chief development officer for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, succeeds Barbara Mosacchio as chief executive officer.

Ware’s career spans 20 years in social services, including early work as an advocate for victims of domestic violence before she transitioned into development roles. A seasoned fundraiser, Ware brings more than 13 years of development success to the YWCA. Prior to joining the Girl Scouts, she served in development, annual giving and major gifts capacities with Baylor Health System Foundation, ChildCareGroup and the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center.

“In this tough economy, when the competition for philanthropic gifts is so tight, Jennifer is the perfect leader for the YWCA,” said Dr. Cathy Bryce, board president for the YWCA. “Her extensive fundraising background and leadership experience will help ensure the YWCA’s continued impact in the Dallas community.” The YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas’ 110 staff members serve women and children through a variety of programs on a $5 million annual operating budget.

Ware responded, “Joining the YWCA is a wonderful opportunity to put both my experience and my passion for women’s issues to work for a legacy Dallas organization that truly empowers women in our community.”

Beginning her new role as the YWCA enters its second century of service, Ware says that one of her immediate priorities is to build on the momentum created in 2008 during the organization’s Centennial celebrations. She noted, “We must continue to grow our partnerships with leading businesses, foundations and individuals who firmly believe that helping women move from poverty to self-sufficiency is critical to the success of our families and our community.”

Ware was named CEO through an extensive search process conducted by executive search firm Pearson Partners International Inc. (www.pearsonpartnersintl.com), the executive committee of the YWCA board, and a specially-formed search committee whose membership included co-chairs Ron Parker and Anne Motsenbocker and members Susan Conner, David Holl, Margaret Keliher and Maria Scannapieco.

“The YWCA extends its greatest thanks to Pearson Partners International, the executive committee and the search committee for their hard work in interviewing and evaluating potential hires for the CEO position,” said Dr. Bryce. “We appreciate their diligent efforts in recruiting Jennifer and look forward to continued growth and progress at the YWCA under her leadership.”
